The Hollywood drama between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively has taken ANOTHER turn, with Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, claiming that Ryan Reynolds‘ Deadpool & Wolverine character Nicepool is taking the piss out of his client.
A deleted scene from Deadpool & Wolverine has recently blown up on TikTok, and Freedman is insisting that the scene is an “obvious” reference to his client.
Freedman didn’t mince words on Megyn Kelly‘s show, saying, “If your wife is sexually harassed, you don’t make fun of Justin Baldoni. You don’t make fun of the situation. You take it very seriously”.
“You file HR complaints, you raise the issue and you follow a legal process,” Freedman said. “What you don’t do is mock the person and turn it into a joke.”
He reckons Reynolds used the Nicepool character to mock Baldoni as a form of retaliation to his wife’s accusations and he’s not the only one.
An incredibly comprehensive Twitter thread by user @TheSpiritualShift breaks down the alleged digs:
- Nicepool sports a “hippie-style man-bun and long hair, similar to Justin Baldoni’s signature look”.
- In one scene, Nicepool says, “Oh my goodness, wait til you’ve seen Ladypool. She’s gorgeous. She just had a baby too, and I can’t even tell.” This mirrors Lively’s allegations that Baldoni made inappropriate remarks about her body post-pregnancy.
- There’s a cheeky reference to intimacy coordinators when Deadpool asks, “And where in God’s name is the intimacy coordinator?” – a potential jab at Lively’s allegations against Baldoni.
- The thread looks at how Nicepool dies. “Nicepool gets shot to death multiple times by Ladypool played by Blake Lively herself while Deadpool, played by Ryan Reynolds, uses Nicepool as a human shield”. The user also points out that “the scene takes place outside a flower shop [allegedly] referencing the movie It Ends With Us”.
This whole conspiracy stems from a complex web of lawsuits. Lively filed a sexual harassment complaint against Baldoni alleging unwanted physical advances and a smear campaign. In response, Baldoni slapped The New York Times with a $250 million defamation lawsuit on December 31, claiming they published a skewed narrative.
Freedman’s not stopping there. He promised to name Blake’s husband Ryan in their upcoming countersuit, saying “Ryan Reynolds for sure” will be included. He insists there’s “no question” the scene in Deadpool “relates to Justin”.
Meanwhile, Reynolds is yet to acknowledge the accusations, but Lively’s legal team maintains her claims are “serious” and backed by “concrete facts”.
As more theories and lawsuits come out of the woodwork, one thing’s for sure this drama is far from over.
