In her latest Anything Goes podcast episode, Emma served up a raw, unfiltered look at her first serious relationship. While Emma kept her ex’s identity on the down-low on the episode titled What My Meltdowns Have Shown Me, internet sleuths are working overtime to link it to Ethan Dolan. The timeline? Suspiciously perfect. The drama? Off the charts.
The speculation surrounding Emma and Ethan’s romance has been brewing for years, thanks to their early interactions as part of the iconic “Sister Squad” alongside James Charles and Ethan’s twin Grayson, starting in 2018. Seriously, I would scream every time they posted a video together and their Vegas trip will live in my heart forever.
Emma has openly admitted to being a “huge Dolan stan” in 2018 on Tana Mongeau‘s podcast, setting the stage for fans to wonder if there was something more between them.
In July 2019, they were spotted leaving SoulCycle together. When asked if they were dating, Emma’s response was, “Did we say it? Not yet.” This cryptic remark only fueled the flames of speculation and basically blew my mind.
Ethan also famously defended Emma on X (formerly Twitter) when a hater commented on her appearance, saying, “Her lips deffffinitely aren’t crusty,” which obviously sent shippers into overdrive.
In her podcast, Emma recounts her first relationship in painfully raw detail. “Let me take you back to when I was 17-years-old and I got into my first romantic relationship. It was very exciting for me… I was always really insecure about what I provide as a woman,” she shared.
This insecurity made dating her long-time crush feel like a monumental achievement. “I thought they were my soulmate and I’d never feel that same way again,” she reflected.
The relationship lasted about nine months but ended in heartbreak. “That relationship felt like a lifetime to me,” she explains, highlighting how intense first loves can be (I feel seen).
After their breakup, Emma found herself in a complicated on-again, off-again situationship with him that left her emotionally drained. “He was pretty clear… like, yeah, you know, like I still would hook up or whatever, but I’m not committing to anyone right now,” she revealed.
The drama reached its peak when her ex promised exclusivity only to ghost her the next day. Emma described this emotional turmoil as being caught in a psychological blender: “I was jumping for joy. Okay? Jumping for joy.”
But then he stopped responding, leading to intense frustration. In a moment of rage that would make anyone relate, she threw her phone at the wall. “I’m so grateful I had that meltdown,” she admitted. This moment became a wake-up call for her to end the toxic cycle.
Again, Emma hasn’t straight up said this was about Ethan, but fans are convinced the episode is about him.
Whether or not it is about him, let’s raise a toast to Emma for keeping it real and reminding us that heartbreak might sting, but it also makes for some seriously entertaining content.
