Devastating photo reveals extent of balcony collapse that left eight people injured after group lunch turned to chaos
Eight people were rushed to hospital after a 2.5metre-high house balcony a group was reportedly having lunch on collapsed.
A photo from the scene shows the large square balcony caved in at the front of the house on O’Donohue Road, in the town of Anglesea on Victoria’s southern Surf Coast.
There was also a dog reported injured after the balcony flooring gave way at about 2pm on Saturday.
Three men, three women and two teenage girls were taken to Geelong Hospital suffering non-life-threatening injuries.
They remain in a stable condition.
A building surveyor will assess the structure of the building and the SES has cordoned off the area.
An SES spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia the timber structure fell onto three people.
‘SES along with ambulance crews and the CFA helped to extricate the people trapped underneath,’ the spokeswoman said
