Deputy Governor of Damietta follows up on the latest developments in the integrated urban development project in Al Shuaraa
Engineer Shaima Al-Siddiq, Deputy Governor of Damietta, followed the latest developments in the “Hayna” Integrated Urban Development Project, which is being implemented in the Shuaraa area, in the presence of Mohamed Ramadan, the field coordinator of the “Hayna” project in Damietta Governorate and the representative of the United Nations Human Settlements Authority (UN Habitat).
The meeting discussed the latest developments in the project, detailed plans and improved cadastral maps for the selected sites, the detailed plan for the Shuaraa area, and a study of the basic infrastructure needs, in order to achieve the development goals of land management and rearrangement through a specific methodology for planning and urban design, supporting related policies and raising the efficiency of the infrastructure. Infrastructure, as well as presenting the measures that have been taken during the past period.
The Deputy Governor also followed the detailed plans and their positions on building permits and reconciliation, as well as the implementation of the cadastral survey, and also what was achieved by the meetings with landowners to activate the role of community participation to familiarize them with the stages of the project, as well as a comprehensive inventory of all services in the region.
In this regard, Engineer Shaima Al-Siddiq discussed all the obstacles that hinder the implementation of the project according to the established schedule and plan, and she also stressed the importance of concerted efforts to achieve the project’s goals and sustainable development visions.
It is worth noting that the “Hayna” project is being implemented in Damietta and Qena governorates in cooperation with the Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities represented by the General Authority for Urban Planning and a grant from the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, with joint funding between the Egyptian government and the Swiss government, at a total cost of the project exceeding 11 million dollars.
