David Anderson to appear; Federal Court unfair dismissal case resumes

Lattouf’s cross-examination spilled well into the second day of action, moving from tense exchanges between her and the ABC’s barrister Ian Neil, SC, on Monday, to breaking down in tears at several points on Tuesday.

Across several hours, Lattouf told the court she had turned to alcohol, sleep aids and self-medication to help with the psychological and physical toll of the case and events since her sacking. These have included multiple threats, one of which she reported to the NSW Police in October that is being actively investigated.

While the ABC has positioned Lattouf as having “accrued” a number of benefits from the extra attention she has received since the claim was filed, she pushed back and spoke of being lied about, defamed, mischaracterised by the Murdoch press, and derided by ABC chair Kim Williams on live television at the National Press Club.

Later in the afternoon, we heard from her psychiatrist Dr Nigel Strauss, who said the events had exacerbated a pre-existing depressive order she was suffering from. You can catch up on the full story from yesterday here.
