Dar Al-Iftaa is preparing to hold its first international seminars under the title: "The role of the fatwa in achieving intellectual security"

Under the generous patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, the Egyptian Fatwa House, under the umbrella of the General Secretariat of Fatwa Houses and Bodies in the World, is preparing to hold its first international seminars on December 15 and 16 in Cairo, on the occasion of the International Fatwa Day, which is celebrated in December 15th of every year.

 

  The symposium will be held under the title: “The Role of the Fatwa in Achieving Intellectual Security,” with the participation of scholars, muftis, and ministers of Islamic affairs from various countries of the world, and an elite group of professors and scholars from Al-Azhar Al-Sharif. It aims to shed light on the pivotal importance of the fatwa in establishing the foundations of intellectual and societal security, and confronting challenges. Contemporary intellectual thought, which contributes to achieving stability and sustainable development.

– Promoting intellectual security is a shared responsibility 

  Dr. Nazir Ayyad – the Mufti of the Republic, head of the General Secretariat of Fatwa Houses and Bodies in the World – stressed that this symposium comes within the ongoing efforts to strengthen intellectual security, which is the basis for the stability of societies, stressing that the fatwa is not only a statement of a legitimate ruling, but rather a strategic tool. To guide human behavior and protect it from intellectual deviation and extremism.   His Eminence said: “Enhancing intellectual security is a shared responsibility between religious and societal institutions, and requires cooperation and integration between various parties to achieve the desired goals, adding that we are working to provide an enlightened religious discourse that confronts intellectual challenges and enhances the role of the fatwa in achieving intellectual and societal security.”

 

His Eminence indicated that the symposium will address a number of main topics, including the role of the fatwa in promoting National belonging, consolidating the principle of citizenship, upholding the value of reason and thought, and supporting the values ​​of centrism and moderation. 

 

The challenges facing intellectual security, such as extremist thought and random fatwas, will also be discussed with Providing practical solutions to confront them. The symposium will witness a number of important events, including a discussion workshop entitled “Confronting Random Fatwas: Towards Activating the Role of Fatwa Institutions in Confronting Contemporary Chaos,” and another workshop on the methodology of rational response to thorny questions, with a focus on atheism as a model. The Imam Al-Layth bin Saad Center for Coexistence Fatwas will also be launched, which aims to promote the values ​​of peaceful coexistence between different cultures and religions, in addition to showing a documentary film documenting the efforts of fatwa institutions on the occasion of World Fatwa Day. His Eminence the Mufti added: “We look forward to this first symposium being a starting point towards more regional and international cooperation to achieve common goals, thus enhancing the role of religious institutions in confronting intellectual challenges and supporting national states against plans of chaos and fourth and fifth generation wars.”   This symposium confirms Egypt’s pioneering role in promoting intellectual and religious dialogue at the regional and international levels, and consolidating its position as an intellectual and civilizational center that contributes to achieving stability and development.
