Dan Campbell sends Detroit Lions fans wild by comparing injury crisis to eating filet and moldy bread

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell had fans riled up with his response to the team’s injury crisis late into the season.

After tying together 11 straight wins, Campbell’s side suffered a 48-42 loss to the Buffalo Bills with player availability being a big factor.

The morning after his team moved to 12-2, Campbell spoke on the Costa & Jansen Show with an incredible assessment and analogy about their loss.

‘You win 11 in a row and then you lose and the sky falls,’ Campbell said. ‘What happens is you get used to eating filet, and I’m talking about all of us, and everything’s good, life’s good, and you forget what it was like when you had nothing and you ate your f***ing molded bread.’

‘Sometimes you gotta get punched in the mouth and remember what it used to be like to really appreciate where you are, and we’ll do that,’ he continued.

‘We got a bad taste in our mouth, we got kicked around the other day, we lost a few guys, and you know what – it’s exactly what we needed. So we’re gonna bounce back, we’re gonna respond. We got guys who are bout to have an incredible opportunity here.’

‘And we will play the game anyway needed to win. I don’t give a crap If we gotta win by one point for the rest of the year, that’s what we’re gonna do and I’m gonna be happy about it.

The response had the hosts laughing at their producers as Campbell slid in two f-bombs during his remarks. However, social media users showed appreciation for Campbell’s attitude and delivery.

‘This Dan Campbell interview has me about to jump out of my car and run down the fk’n highway the rest of the way to work,’ one user wrote. ‘If this man isn’t good at anything else he has a Doctorate Degree in motivation. I love this man like I love my dad.’

‘Dan Campbell, getting the entire city ready to run through walls this morning on @971theticketxyt,’ added another. ‘Campbells not quitting and neither are we. Buckle up, Detroit, the next few weeks are about to be a wild, wild ride.’

‘Who needs coffee when you got Dan Campbell dropping BARS in the AM?!?’ a third chimed in.

‘Nothing gets me more fired up to watch Detroit Lions football every week than Dan Campbell talking about his team. LFG @Lions!!!!’ commented a fourth.

While the Lions’ injury list already had a hefty number, they took another hit with three key defenders falling to injuries against Buffalo.

Ian Rapoport reported on Monday two of the three players are likely done for the season. Defensive lineman Alim McNeill suffered a torn ACL, and cornerback Carlton Davis III fractured his jaw during the game.

Davis will soon undergo surgery for his injury. However, Davis’ timeline suggests that he will miss six weeks, which would perfectly line up with the NFC title game on January 26.

Furthermore, Campbell revealed postgame that cornerback Khalil Dorsey suffered an ankle injury and will likely be sidelined for the rest of the season.

Another notable injury for the Lions happened in Week 6 when defensive end Aidan Hutchinson fractured his tibia and fibula. He was initially deemed out for the rest of the season but it has since been reported that he could return in the Super Bowl if the Lions qualify.

Campbell and Co. sit atop the NFC North with games against Chicago, San Francisco, and Minnesota before the postseason.
