Daisy Ridley will receive the Hollywood Rising-Star Award at the Deauville Film Festival which will celebrate this year its 50th anniversary.
Ridley, who recently revealed in Women’s Health that she was diagnosed with Graves’ disease in September of 2023, is expected to attend the ceremony in Deauville. She will follow the footsteps of Emilia Clarke (2023), Ana de Armas (2022), Paul Dano (2012) and Robert Pattinson (2015), as well as Ryan Gosling and Jessica Chastain who received the first Hollywood Rising-Star Award in 2011.
Ridley is best known for her role as the combattive Rey in the “Star Wars” trilogy, in which she starred opposite Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac and Jon Boyega.
On top of blockbusters, Ridley has also starred in Kenneth Branagh’s “Murder on the Orient Express,” along with critically acclaimed indies such as Claire McCarthy’s “Ophelia” and more recently, Rachel Lambert’s drama “Sometimes I Think About Dying,”as well as Sam Yates’ “Magpie” which premiered at this year’s SXSW Festival.
