Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, received a report today, Wednesday, on the efforts of the Ministry’s Central Population Unit during the month of September 2024 and its role in the governorates in supporting the implementation of the Population and Development Strategy 2030, working to improve population characteristics, and increasing citizens’ awareness regarding reproductive health and the optimal number. of children, and improving the economic and social level, in addition to following up on its implementation and participation in the events and activities of the Presidential Initiative " A new beginning for building humanity.

 

Dr. Manal Awad confirmed that the Ministry is moving forward in supporting the improvement of growth rates, population characteristics and distribution, achieving social justice and closing development gaps, noting that the population increase file is one of the important files. In which a large number of ministries in the government are cooperating to confront it, especially in light of the great importance that the President of the Republic attaches to this issue and his control over it, so that the citizen feels the rates of development achieved by the state, pointing to the need for the plans and programs implemented and set by the central levels of the government to be commensurate with the nature of each governorate. The Minister of Local Development explained that the issue of population increase requires providing the accurate information and data necessary to assist the state in its decisions and plans to confront this problem. The issue is particularly related to determining rates of poverty and illiteracy, so it is closely following the efforts of the Central Population Unit in the Ministry and coordinating them with the population units formed in the governorates to help provide the information and data required in this regard to facilitate the process of monitoring indicators and sectors that need more support to improve population performance indicators within the governorates and work Reports for periodic follow-up of indicators.

 

 

The report received by Dr. Manal Awad regarding the follow-up of the work of the Central Population Unit during the month of September 2024 indicated that it implemented 3 field visits were made to support the population work teams in the population units in the governorates of Giza, Fayoum, and Port Said, where the head of the central population unit in the ministry held meetings with local leaders in the aforementioned governorates and was informed of some local activities in some areas in those governorates, which include the economic empowerment of women in safe areas.
