Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Jude Bellingham among the nominees for EA Sports FC’s Men’s Team of the Year – while Lauren James, Aitana Bonmati and Alexandra Popp are on the shortlist for the women’s side
The shortlists for the EA Sports FC Team of the Year for both the men and women have been revealed, with plenty of big names to choose from.
Unveiled on Monday afternoon, the nominee lists includes over 200 names across with voting now open for fans until Sunday, January 12.
Perennial award winners Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are on the men’s shortlist – in a list that is brimming with talent.
The pair are among 31 names in the attackers shortlist that also features Liverpool’s Egyptian King Mohamed Salah, Real Madrid duo Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappe as well as in-demand Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres and Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal.
Yamal, who lit up Euro 2024 with Spain, is joined by compatriot Rodri – with the Ballon d’Or winner heading the list of midfield nominees.

The imperious Virgil van Dijk and robust Antonio Rudiger are among the choices in defence, while Aston Villa’s No 1 and Argentina World Cup winner Emiliano Martinez is one of seven goalkeepers to vote for.
Overall there are eight England international on the men’s side – including Chelsea playmaker Cole Palmer, Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham and Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane.
On the women’s side there are multiple Lionesses up for voting in the EA Sports FC’s Team of the Year.
Defensive duo Alex Greenwood and Lucy Bronze are up for nomination as well as electric forwards Lauren Hemp and Lauren James.
Hemp is joined by her Manchester City team-mate Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw, while Mayra Ramirez is a fellow Chelsea attacker up for voting like James.
Wolfsburg striker Alexandra Popp, who helped fire Germany to Olympic gold at the 2016 Rio Games, is another up for nomination.
Spain metronome Aitana Bonmati, who was won successive Ballon d’Or gongs, is among the stacked midfield list which includes Pernille Harder and Brazil legend Marta.
The final XI teams will be unveiled and available in EA SPORTS FC 25 from Wednesday, January 15th onwards, with the men’s TOTY roster available in EA SPORTS FC Mobile from Tuesday, January 21st.
