Conducting 17 ophthalmology operations at Hurghada General Hospital in one day as part of an initiative "new beginning"
Hurghada General Hospital succeeded in performing 17 cataract surgeries within one day, the first of its kind in the Red Sea Governorate, as part of a plan to eliminate waiting lists, within the framework of the presidential initiative “A New Beginning for Human Building.”
The operations were carried out under the patronage of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, and Major General Amr Hanafi, Governor of the Red Sea, and under the supervision of Dr. Ismail El-Arabi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in the Red Sea, and Dr. Amr Adel Abdel-Al, Director of Hospital Administration.
For his part, Dr. Ismail El-Arabi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, said that these efforts come within the framework of providing free integrated medical services to citizens throughout the Republic, with the aim of reducing waiting periods among patients to receive surgical interventions, and alleviating the financial burdens on Egyptian families.
An elite group of ophthalmologists, led by Dr. Hossam Ziadeh, Professor of Ophthalmic Surgery at Al-Azhar University, participated in performing the operations, along with a distinguished medical team that included Dr. Osama Badir, Dr. Meryl Michel, Dr. Shaima Mohamed, Dr. Israa Haggag, Dr. Nada Ahmed, and Dr. Elham Jamil.
The nursing staff in the Operations Department and the Internal Department also contributed to the success of the mission, relying on modern medical equipment and highly qualified competencies.
Dr. Ismail El-Arabi thanked Dr. Karim Shabrawi, Director of Hurghada General Hospital, and all the doctors and assistants, appreciating their sincere efforts in serving patients, and stressing the importance of continuing these achievements in supporting the health of citizens.
