Colorado football stadium is invaded by ‘hit-and-run driver after he rammed his pickup through gates’: Cops arrest shirtless Massachusetts man, 48

Colorado’s Folsom Field became the scene of a bizarre arrest Thursday when a shirtless man drove his pickup truck through the stadium gates in Boulder and out onto the Buffaloes’ turf.

Karl E. Haglund, 48, from Massachusetts is facing a number of charges related to an alleged hit-and-run spree, including: reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, criminal attempt vehicular assault, vehicular eluding and second-degree criminal trespass.

Boulder police say they received emergency calls of multiple hit-and-run incidents within two miles of the Buffalo’s stadium. Later it was determined by police that the driver hit a series of cars and trees, nearly striking one witness, before driving to Folsom Field.

It was there that police say they tried and failed to prevent Haglund from ramming his pickup through the Folsom Field gate. He ultimately stopped his truck at about midfield, before the shirtless Haglund exited the vehicle and surrendered to officers.

Pictures have since been posted on social media, showing a man – believed to be Haglund – gesturing with his hands outstretched to the sky. One commenter joked about the shirtless Haglund: ‘CU EMERGENCY: Hot single on Folsom Field.’

Police say one person was nearly struck off campus, but a university spokesman has since told ESPN that nobody was hurt during the bizarre incident.

The school is still evaluating the total damage to the field and two entrance gates impacted by Haglund’s vehicle, said Steve Hurlbert with Colorado’s athletics department.

Fortunately for Deion Sanders & Co., Colorado’s next football game is on the road when the Buffaloes travel to Fort Collins to face rival Colorado State on Saturday evening.

The Buffaloes return to Folsom Field on September 21 to face Baylor.

The team is currently coming off an embarrassing 28-10 defeat to rival Nebraska, which ended with Sanders’ son Shedeur, the team’s quarterback, making an early exit to the locker room after taking five sacks on the night.

Colorado is now 1-1 on the year after narrowly beating FCS power North Dakota State, 31-26.
