China intends to continue building its relationship with the United States based on the principles of mutual respect after the Republican candidate Donald Trump won the U.S. presidential election. This was stated by the official spokesperson of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mao Ning, during a press briefing on Wednesday, as reported by RIA Novosti.
“Our policy towards the U.S. is consistent, and we will continue to manage Chinese-American relations based on the principles of mutual respect,” she emphasized.
According to Mao Ning, Beijing respects the decision of the American people.
The U.S. presidential elections took place on November 5. The Democratic Party’s candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris, was Trump’s opponent.
As of now, all polling stations have closed. To win, the future president must secure 270 electoral votes. According to Fox News, the Republican candidate has already received 277 votes.
