"Childhood and motherhood" Trains child protection units in Aswan to implement the Dawya initiative
The National Council for Childhood and Motherhood organized two workshops in Aswan Governorate during the period from 5 to 7 November 2024, with the aim of raising the efficiency of workers in child protection units in the governorate, and training on mechanisms for implementing the national initiative to empower girls “Dawy” Coinciding with the Council’s celebrations of childhood holidays during the current month of November.
Dr. Sahar Al-Sunbati, President of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, explained that the Council implemented a training workshop entitled “Mechanisms for Implementing… Dawa Initiative " Within the framework of implementing the national initiative to empower girls “Dawi” It was implemented under the patronage of First Lady Intisar El-Sisi, during the period from November 5-7, 2024, in cooperation between the Council and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and this workshop is part of the activities carried out by the Council, within the framework of the Presidential Human Development Initiative “A New Beginning.” To build humanity.
Al-Sunbati added: Representatives of the Ministries of Education, Technical Education, Culture, Youth and Sports, and Endowments, in addition to representatives of the Orthodox Church, participated in the workshop. Participants were trained on how to manage storytelling circles, interactive theater sessions, and intergenerational dialogue, in addition to digital learning and viewing clubs.< /p>
Al-Sunbati also noted: The (Dawai) initiative is a national initiative targeting girls and boys alike, and it also contributes to providing opportunities for them to participate and express their experiences, expertise and stories, in order to achieve equality.
He also The Council also implemented a workshop in cooperation with the National Coordinating Committee to Combat Illegal Migration and Human Trafficking and the United Nations Migration Agency to enhance the capabilities of members working in the national child protection system and members of child protection units in the governorates (Aswan, Luxor, Qena, Sohag) on issues of illegal immigration and human trafficking during The period from 5 to 7 November 2024.
Al-Sunbati said: The opening session was attended by Ambassador Naela Gabr, Head of the National Coordinating Committee to Combat and Prevent Illegal Migration and Human Trafficking. During her speech, she praised the ongoing cooperation between the Committee and the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, which contributed to holding several workshops aimed at developing the national child protection system to combat crimes related to this matter.
She indicated that the workshop addressed the definition of the current tasks of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood in light of Resolution No. 182 of 2023 regarding its restructuring, the role and competencies of the national child protection system, and the responsibilities of the general and sub-childhood protection committees. In the field of child protection, providing protection to victims of the crime of human trafficking and illegal immigration, and following up on the case management applicable to all cases through a set of steps and interventions and how to coordinate between the General Administration for Child Rescue and child protection units at the level of the Republic and the Public Prosecution.

Sabry Othman, Director of the General Administration for Child Relief, and Islam Muhammad, a lawyer in the Legal Support Unit, participated in the workshop. In a related context, the Council delegation, headed by Dr. Sahar Al-Sunbati, visited the Umm Habiba (Aga Khan) Foundation in Aswan Governorate with the aim of cooperating and coordinating with the Foundation during the next phase regarding childhood development activities and positive education based on At the invitation of the Foundation, Dr. Hanan El Gendy, Executive Director of the Foundation, presented the Foundation’s activities in the fields of early childhood development and positive education, as well as examples of the evidence that the Foundation prepared in this regard.
Al-Sunbati thanked the foundation for its invitation and praised the association’s efforts in preparing these guides, noting that the council aims for fruitful cooperation with civil society organizations to advance services provided to Egyptian children and raise awareness of harmful practices against children as it is the third arm of development in Egypt and has a role. It is significant and influential in reaching all groups in society, especially in remote areas.
The Council delegation, namely Dr. Nour Osama and Dr. Mai Zein Al-Din, also praised the activities carried out by the association, thanking the team.
