"Childhood and motherhood" Discusses mechanisms to combat violence against children with Save the Children

Dr. Sahar Al-Sunbati, President of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, held a meeting with a delegation from the Save the Children Authority, which included Matteo Caprotti, Director of the Authority, Yasser Hisham, Director of Project Development, Omnia Ghamri, Director of Policy, Heba Azzazy, Protection Advisor, and Dr. Wael Abdel Razek, Secretary-General. To the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, to discuss enhancing ways of cooperation in finding urgent interventions to address violence against children, especially violence between Peers.

The President of the Council confirmed that the issue of peer violence, whether psychological or physical abuse, has become an urgent issue that must be worked to eliminate and join hands with all concerned parties to find urgent solutions to end it, most notably religious institutions because of their role. Effective advocacy and awareness raising in changing the culture of violence and spreading the values ​​and principles of sound upbringing for children, as well as the important role of the family in raising a healthy generation.

Al-Sunbati explained: The Council is examining mechanisms for urgent intervention through a national initiative that works on several basic axes, the first of which is supporting children and young people in confronting violence and encouraging them to have a culture of reporting it and requesting assistance and support, in addition to supporting the family in raising children in a balanced and safe upbringing, while providing specialized training courses and workshops. It qualifies parents, caregivers, and those about to marry to protect and care for children at all age levels, stressing that this initiative will support expatriate children residing in the Arab Republic of Egypt, pointing out that the National Council For childhood and motherhood, it supports every child in Egypt.

The President of the Council directed the preparation of an executive action plan for this initiative that includes goals, activities, and performance indicators for the possibility of measuring the impact of its implementation and its interim evaluation to ensure sustainability.

She added " “Al-Sunbati” The National Council for Childhood and Motherhood attaches special importance to combating violence against children over the decades through three axes that it works on (the axis of prevention, protection, and intervention), pointing to the launch of many awareness-raising initiatives that combat violence, support the family, and provide it with the information necessary to raise a psychologically balanced generation, as well as It works on the protection axis through the General Administration for Child Rescue and Support for Children at Risk, urgent intervention to protect children and providing all necessary support, whether psychological or legal support.

She expressed "Sunbati" Expressing her aspirations to continue working more with Save the Children  To enhance the protection of children’s fields, in continuation of fruitful cooperation in a number of fields.
