Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell set to undergo medical at Crystal Palace ahead of six-month loan move to the Eagles
Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell will have a medical tomorrow at Crystal Palace once the final details are ironed out on a six month loan deal.
Palace have been looking to add a centre-back or left-sided defender and have been working on a possible deal for Chilwell, who could also provide cover for Tyrick Mitchell on the left-hand side, for the last 10 days.
Chelsea would need to be prepared to pay a portion of Chilwell’s wages in order for him to make the move to Selhurst Park, as he is one of the highest earners at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have been trying to find a new home for Chilwell, either on loan or permanently, since the summer when it became clear he would not play under Maresca.
This season the 28-year-old has been handed just 45 minutes in all competitions, coming in the Carabao Cup win over League Two Barrow.
Palace lost Trevoh Chalobah from their back line when he was recalled from his season-long loan by Chelsea, who have been struggling with defensive injuries.

Everton were also interested in Chilwell.
Elsewhere, Palace are still in talks with AC Milan for Serbian centre-back Strahinja Pavlovic, while their alternative is Tiago Djalo at Porto who is on loan there from Juventus.
Speaking on Sunday, Palace boss Oliver Glasner said: ‘One more day to go and let’s see what happens but I think we will have at least one more signing. We need one.
‘Not to talk about where it will be but I think everyone can imagine. I think this signing will happen. Maybe we are also looking for a centre-back. It’s not a must but I’m pretty confident that there will be one signing.
‘I expect one more signing on a position where we have just one player playing with his good foot.’
Chelsea defender Aaron Anselmino is also expected to join Marseille on loan for the season.
