Chelsea 1-2 Fulham: Cottagers stage stunning late comeback with goals from Harry Wilson and Rodrigo Muniz to deal major blow to Blues’ Premier League title hopes
Rodrigo Muniz capped off a stunning late Fulham comeback at Stamford Bridge to deal a major blow to Chelsea’s Premier League title hopes.
The Brazilian’s 95th-minute winner came shortly after former Liverpool youngster Harry Wilson looked to have stolen a point for the Cottagers against their regular tormentors.
Enzo Maresca’s side led for most of the game at Stamford Bridge through Cole Palmer’s stunning 16th-minute strike.
Palmer netted his 12th Premier League goal of the season after a superb turn and finish, which would have taken the Blues to within a point of the leaders ahead of their home clash against Leicester.
But Marco Silva’s outfit, who have earned points against Arsenal and Liverpool in recent weeks, responded in the 82nd minute with Wilson’s header and Muniz’s goal, which secured their first-ever win at the home of their local rivals.
The result takes the Cottagers up to eighth in the division, while Maresca’s side sit four points off the Reds, who have two games in hand. More to follow.
