Channing Tatum has declared that he “won’t be doing any more fat roles” while unveiling images of his recent body transformations on social media.
The actor took to Instagram on Saturday to share three photos of himself taken at different stages of his fitness journey, with the first being his current bod with a towel (criminally) draped over his lower body.
For all those curious (me), no amount of zooming will uncover what’s underneath, but you will get an eyeful of a torso so shredded you could grate cheese on it. You could also spray whipped cream on it, but I’ll save that for the fanfic.
The second pic was taken while Tatum was filming Josephine, an upcoming thriller film that required him to weigh in at over 100 kilos.
Meanwhile, in the third photo — snapped while Tatum filmed the crime drama Roofman — the actor said he weighed 78 kilos.
Spoiler alert, it’s Channing Tatum — star of our collective fantasies and source of this writer’s gay awakening — so he looks gorgeous at any stage and at any angle, but the actor said he won’t be fluctuating his weight for acting roles moving forward.
“I won’t be doing any more fat roles”, Tatum wrote, adding that it’s “[too] hard on the body and [too] hard to take off now”.
“Damn when I look at these pics it’s just wild what the human body and will can do,” Tatum added. Damn is right!
The actor went on to express gratitude for his trainer, nutritionist and “my genetics”, the last of which I am also eternally grateful for.
Of course, it wasn’t just me (I promise) who was thirsting over the actor’s pics, with one Instagram commenter saying they would “take [Tatum] at any size” (real) and another quipping that they “zoomed in so hard my phone asked if I was okay”.
“Wait… there was a caption?”, a third user wrote.
In any case, the heartthrob is no stranger to Hollywood’s oft-unrealistic demands around his appearance, and admitted in 2022 that he almost refused to star in Magic Mike 3 because being “in that kind of shape is not natural”.
“It’s my full-time job and I can barely do it,” he said on the The Kelly Clarkson Show.
As for who gets to enjoy the fruits of Tatum’s labour, speculation is swirling that the She’s The Man star is currently dating 25-year-old Australian model Inka Williams.
Rumours around their romance sprung up around the same time that Tatum’s ex-fiancée, Zoë Kravitz, was spotted out and about with actor Noah Centineo.
The duelling soft-launches suggest the pair — who called off their engagement after three years together last October — have moved on, but they are set to reunite as co-stars in the upcoming comedy film, Alpha Gang.
Here’s hoping Tatum will also share images from that set, not least because I need more fanfic material.
