Caitlin Clark breaks silence after fans notice ‘major’ appearance change

Caitlin Clark has broken her silence on the viral photo of her offseason body transformation.

The Indiana Fever star appeared to have a much stronger physique when she was pictured cheering on her alma mater Iowa during the Big Ten tournament last month.

And when Clark appeared on Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi’s alternative broadcast for the women’s national championship game between UConn and South Carolina on Sunday, Bird couldn’t help but ask about the picture.

‘It was the camera angle!,’ Clark joked. ‘AI is getting out of control, c’mon.’

She later acknowledged she was trying to put on weight.

‘I’m trying to get stronger, like a lot of time in the weight room. It’s something I kind of enjoy, so it’s pretty easy for me to spend time in there and really work on that part of my game,’ she said.

The reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year also spoke about developing a floater and improving her ability to finish through contact near the rim.

Clark, who entered the W weighing 152 pounds, was routinely roughed up by opponents looking to knock her off her game.

The most notable incident came when the Chicago Sky’s Chennedy Carter body-checked her to the floor.

In June, Angel Reese also caught Clark in the head with a swinging forearm, while she was later poked in the eye by the Connecticut Sun’s DiJonai Carrington.

Clark later denied that the eye poke was intentional, though there were repeated claims that she was ‘bullied’ throughout her rookie season.

She ultimately ended the year as the fourth-most fouled player in the league amid a record-breaking rookie season.

Clark, who averaged 19.2 points and 8.4 assists, went on to smash the league’s single-season assist record.

She also helped the league set TV viewership records as she starred for the Fever and led them to the playoffs.

Clark and Reese will meet once again on May 17 as the Fever and Sky begin their WNBA seasons.
