Buffalo Bills strike $76million deal to keep key man Christian Benford on a four-year contract

Cornerback Christian Benford is staying in Buffalo after agreeing a huge new four-year, $76million deal.

Benford enjoyed a fantastic year in Buffalo – his third season with the Bills. The 24-year-old was a finalist for the AP Defensive Player of the Year.

It’s the fifth landmark extension the Bills have struck this offseason. Benford follows  teammates Gregory Rousseau, Terrell Bernard, Khalil Shakir and crucially, quarterback Josh Allen.

Benford’s season came to a nasty end, though. He left the field during the AFC title game against the Kansas City Chiefs after having a blow to the head after spending the week in concussion protocol.

Benford was chasing Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy near the Bills sideline when he clashed helmets with teammate Damar Hamlin.

Benford was shaky while standing up and tried to return to the field, but Bills cornerback Rasul Douglas stopped him in his tracks and made sure Buffalo trainers checked on him.
