Jung Kook of the K-pop group BTS is set to release a new documentary called “Jung Kook: I Am Still” — said to be a video diary of the singer’s “eight-month journey” to his solo debut — in theaters across the world on Sept. 18.
The film is directed by Junsoo Park, who has directed a majority of the many films dedicated to BTS and its eight members, along with other films coming out of Big Hit Music, BTS’ South Korean record label. “Jung Kook: I Am Still” will premiere on Sept. 18, with limited screenings worldwide in over 120 countries and regions.
At the time of this article’s publication, a complete list of those cities has not yet been released. Tickets for the showings will go on sale August 21.
In a press release, Big Hit describes the documentary as beginning around the time Jung Kook released “Seven,” a song featuring the American rapper Latto, in a lead-up to his first solo album, “Golden.” “The film presents exclusive never-before-seen footage and interviews, alongside electrifying live performances that delve into the creative process, unwavering work ethic, and unique challenges faced by a global superstar,” the release continues. “It offers viewers an intimate look into the journey behind his solo debut that showcased the pinnacle of Jung Kook’s artistry and catapulted him to a global popstar.”
“Seven (feat. Latto)” peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 songs chart as the first single from “Golden,” which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
“It’s my official solo debut, so everything is a challenge and feels new and fresh,” Kook told Variety last summer. “Of course, I think a lot about delivering good music and performance while working on my music. But above all, as this is my first step forward in the spotlight as a solo artist, I want to show a more mature and grown version of myself.”
