In a moment of pure chaos, influencer Brittany Broski found herself unexpectedly thrust out of the spotlight during the now-infamous “Apple” Dance Cam segment at Charli xcx and Troye Sivan‘s Sweat Tour.
Brittany, known for her viral kombucha-tasting video and quick wit on social media, became the latest victim of the “Apple” Dance drama, due to a fellow concertgoer who displayed some very un-brat-like behaviour.
What’s the “Apple” Dance Cam?
For those not in the know, the “Apple” dance cam has become a staple of the Sweat Tour. At each show, Charli features a person or group from the crowd performing the viral TikTok dance to her hit song “Apple”. It’s a moment that fans eagerly anticipate and I would give up my firstborn child for.
This is an example of a very demure “Apple” Cam moment:
What happened to Brittany Broski during the “Apple” Cam?
During the tour’s second night in Los Angeles, the “Apple” Cam featured a group of fans, including Brittany Broski in a black wig and her friend Megan Guter who was front and centre.
As they were living their best lives on the jumbotron, an unknown man decided it was apparently his time to shine. In a move that can only be described as bonkers, he pushed his way into the centre of the group, shoving Brittany out of frame and God knows where else in the process.
The internet is riding hard for Brittany Broski
Naturally, videos of the incident spread faster than gossip in a high school cafeteria. It’s safe to say the internet is not impressed with this rogue character and has adamantly come to Brittany’s defence.
“Omg how dare they disrespect this queen, do they know who she is,” said one X user.
“Ew get TF out of her way…….that was so rude,” said another.
“It doesn’t even matter that she is Brittany Broski, it’s the fact men bulldoze women because they know they can get away with it,” a user commented on TikTok.
Fans were also quick to point out the stark difference between this and a previous Apple cam incident in New York City. In that case, the dance’s creator, Kelley Heyer, was interrupted by an overenthusiastic fan who seemed unaware of her intrusion.
This time however, the crasher’s actions appeared more deliberate, which according to some does not represent the true essence of brat.
What ever happened to concert etiquette?
Brittany hasn’t responded to the situation yet, but it does bring up an interesting conversation about concert etiquette and the lengths some will go to for their moment in the spotlight.
As one Reddit user put it, “Everyone wants to be the main character, it’s giving DESPERATE!”
It seems the Apple dance has evolved from a fun audience participation moment to a competitive sport. As the Sweat Tour continues its run, I wonder what other surprises await.
Will we see more “Apple” Cam crashers? Will Charli implement stricter dance cam security? Only time will tell.
Any who, gonna go practice my “Apple” dance to manifest my moment on the cam (sans intruder) when Charli comes to Australia for Laneway Festival next year!
