Brat: Everyone rumoured to be on Charli xcx’s upcoming remix album

Late last night (October 1), yet another Brat-themed billboard was spotted teasing the newest guest feature on Charli xcx’s upcoming remix album, Brat and it’s completely different but it’s also still brat, releasing next Friday (October 11).

The billboard, which appeared on Brixton’s Atlantic Road, hinted at Shygirl’s appearance on the project, by displaying her name in a mirrored font on a neon green background. It arrives after similar billboards were spotted across the US, sporting the names of Bon Iver (in Wisconsin, where he is from) and Tinashe (in Pasadena, where she was once based).

These latest hints follow already-released remixes, including Yung Lean and Robyn on lead track “360”, Troye Sivan on “Talk Talk” (alongside a small speaking appearance from Dua Lipa), Addison Rae on the A.G. Cook remix of “Von Dutch”, Lorde on “Girl, so confusing”, and Billie Eilish on “Guess”. There are, however, still eight empty slots on the remix album, mysteriously listed in the format “Track [number]” on the project’s provisional Spotify listing, leaving fans to guess who the remaining features might be.

In addition to the teased appearance of Shygirl, who was previously revealed to guest on the “365” remix during Charli’s BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend performance in Luton, and Tinashe and Bon Iver, eagle-eared fans also heard the staccato vocals of Spanish rapper BB Trickz on “Club classics” during Charli’s PARTYGIRL Ibiza Boiler Room set in July. If Tinashe and Bon Iver are to take up one track each – which seems likely, given that a crossover between the two would boggle the mind – then that leaves four remaining guest slots on the project.

Prime suspects for the remaining features include Swedish Drain Gang rapper-producer Bladee and The 1975, whose names both appeared on billboards unveiled this morning in Stockholm and Manchester respectively. Both of these appearances seem particularly likely, given that Charli has already collaborated with fellow Drain Gang member Yung Lean, and is currently dating The 1975 drummer George Daniel.

Closing off the investigation are rumours of appearances from American pop star Kesha, whose name previously appeared on a Brat promotional van around London in April this year, as well as alt-pop artist and close friend of Charli’s Caroline Polachek, who featured in a collaborative post with the caption “Everything is romantic” earlier this year. Adding weight to the latter theory is the fact that Charli has since posted numerous stories with Polachek featuring “Everything is romantic” playing in the background.

If all of these deductions are correct, then that would cover the remaining tracks on the project, but would also put to bed further whisperings of Madonna, SOPHIE and Grimes all appearing, too. Regardless, given the already global easter egg hunt that Charli has encouraged fans to embark on, and the calibre of names being thrown around, it appears certain that the final line-up is sure to stir up some Talk (talk).
