Billy Ray Cyrus ‘Threatens’ Son Trace With Legal Action

Billy Ray Cyrus has allegedly threatened his son, Trace Cyrus, with legal action following the latter penning an emotional public letter that called for his father to seek help on January 23.

In a January 26 post, Trace wrote that his previous message was “beyond loving” and that he didn’t want to “put [Billy Ray’s] business out there” but felt as if he had no other way of communicating.

“But for you to threaten me with legal action for wanting you to get help is a disgrace. You should be ashamed of yourself,”  Trace continued.

“I will always love you but I no longer respect you as a man.

“Everyone close to you is terrified to tell you how they really feel. I’m not.”

Trace also posted several Stories on his account addressing his relationship with his father, stating that the latter should have communicated with him “like a man”.

He also shared old family photos as well as one from 2022 of himself and Billy Ray, saying that it was the “last good day” he had with his father.

What did Trace Cyrus say about Billy Ray Cyrus?

The original post read: “Since my earliest memories all I can remember is being obsessed with you and thinking you were the coolest person ever. I wanted to be just like you.”

“Sadly the man that I wanted so desperately to be just like [sic] I barely recognise now.

“It seems this world has beaten you down and it’s become obvious to everyone but you,” Trace continued.

The Instagram post was made in response to Billy Ray’s widely-panned performance at a post-inaugural concert for Donald Trump, where the country star was seen stumbling his words and dealing with technical difficulties.

“I wouldn’t have missed the honour of playing this event whether my microphone, guitar and monitors worked or not.

“I was there because President Donald J. Trump invited me,” Billy Ray wrote on Instagram in response to the performance’s criticism.

Billy Ray has not made a public comment on Trace’s letter.
