Beyoncé pays tribute to Pamela Anderson as she encourages everyone to vote in an Election Day (and rare) music video. Titled “Beywatch,” Queen Bey channeled Anderson in the video set to “Bodyguard”, a track from her country Cowboy Carter album released in March.
In it, she channels Anderson’s looks from the 1996 film Barb Wire and TV series Baywatch. In the visual, there’s a quick look at her firing her Barb Wire gun to show the word “Vote.” She’s also seen in her own take on Anderson’s iconic red bathing suit with the word “Beywatch” instead of “Baywatch.” Another shot has her wearing a version of Anderson’s outfit from the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards, which included a wide-brimmed fuzzy pink hat, white corset, and sequined leggings.
The video ends with onscreen text that reads “HAPPY BEYLLOWEEN” and the word “VOTE.”
The video was released just days after the multi-Grammy-winning artist made her first campaign appearance with Vice President Kamala Harris in Houston, TX, where she described Harris as “a woman who has been pushing for what this country really needs right now — unity.”
“We are at the precipice of an incredible shift — the brink of history,” Beyoncé said. “I’m not here as a celebrity. I’m not here as a mother. I’m not here as a politician. I’m here as a mother who cares deeply about the world my children and all of our children live, a world where we have freedom to control our bodies, a world where we are not divided — our past, our present, our future meet us here.”
