‘Battle of the Karens’: Unbelievable footage captures the moment two women became locked in a tense carpark face-off

A video of two drivers locked in a tense stalemate in a busy carpark has gone viral after a fierce debate erupted about who was at fault.
The footage showed an older woman who was driving a blue Mazda stopped head-on with a younger woman in a black RAV4 in a South Australian carpark, with both refusing to move.
The woman in the RAV4 appeared to have unknowingly driven down a lane in the wrong direction, blocking the Mazda’s path.
But neither driver wanted to budge despite the start of the video showing the motorist in the blue returning to her car, presumably after having spoken with the other woman.
‘Who doesn’t love a good battle of the Karens?’ the TikTok was captioned.
‘We’ve got two wild Karen’s fighting it out,’ the man behind the camera said while another man in the carpark declared it a ‘standoff’.
‘Grandma is not giving up’, the man said.
The two drivers were locked in a fierce stare-off for some time.
The TikTok video of the carpark showdown has gone viral attracting over 500,000 views
‘It is one way,’ the man filming said as he panned the camera to reveal the younger driver appeared to have been driving in the wrong direction.
Viewers of the video were left divided over which driver was at fault because while the younger motorist appeared to have been going the wrong way, many believed the elderly woman was in a better position to move.
‘It’s annoying when someone goes the wrong way but all the blue car has to do is move round her,’ one viewer said.
‘Sitting there is pointless.’
Another user agreed, adding: ‘The point is it’s not always about being right. Be kind.
‘The blue car has to back up two feet. The black car has to back [up] way further. People make mistakes.’
‘Blows my mind how many [people are] saying the black [car] is right,’ another said.
‘The person recording showed that the black car is in a one way lane going the wrong way. Go Granny!’
Another user said: ‘Blue Mazda must be from America, [in] Australia we drive on the left’.
‘Mazda is in the right. RAV4 went the wrong way down a one way road,’ wrote another.
Other users demanded a resolution to the clip which ended before either driver made a move.
‘Please tell me granny won,’ one user said.
It’s unclear how the debacle was resolved.
