Based on the directives of President Sisi, intensive contacts were made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration to follow up on developments in Syria

Dr. Badr Abdel Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration – based on the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi – conducted a series of extensive telephone calls with Hakan Fidan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Bassam Sabbagh, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Syrian Arab Republic, Abbas Al-Araqji, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Sheikh Abdul God bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, to address the rapid developments in Syria. 

Minister Abdel Ati discussed with his counterparts the developments on the ground. In northern Syria and the serious repercussions of these developments on the security and stability of the region, he stressed Egypt’s firm and supportive position of the Syrian state and the importance of respecting its sovereignty and the unity and integrity of its lands, noting the extreme importance of protecting civilians. 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed the need to join efforts Regional and international efforts to stop the escalation and work to calm the situation so that the situation does not deteriorate in a way that threatens regional and international security and stability, once again Egypt’s complete rejection of inciting sectarian strife. Or harming the sovereignty of countries and the unity and integrity of their territories. 

These contacts come in the context of Egypt’s close follow-up of developments in Syria with active regional and international parties, as the Minister of Foreign Affairs exchanged visions yesterday with “Anthony Blinken” US Secretary of State and Sergei Lavrov The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation regarding ways to stop the escalation in Syria and restore security and stability.
