Saltburn star Barry Keoghan has issued a statement on why he deactivated Instagram and has called for respect following reports of a shocking breakup with 2024’s main pop girly, Sabrina Carpenter.
ICYMI, the pop-culture world has been buzzing amid news of a spit between the Please Please Please couple. Naturally, with a high-profile Hollywood breakup, rumours of cheating began to run rampant across social media, with Sabrina Carpenter’s stans alleging it was Keoghan’s unfaithfulness that caused the relationship’s demise.
As the rumours trickled down the grapevine, many folks voiced their anger with Keoghan across platforms. Amidst all the chaos, the 32-year-old actor deactivated his Instagram, adding more fuel to the rumour fire.
On Sunday (Australian time), Keoghan took to X (formerly Twitter) to issue a statement regarding all the hullabaloo surrounding his breakup and why he chose to leave the Meta platform.
“I can only sit and take so much,” the Saltburn actor began.
Please be respectful

“My name has been dragged across the internet in ways I usually don’t respond to. I have to respond now because it’s getting to a place where there are too many lines being crossed.
“I deactivated my account because I can no longer let this stuff distract me from my family and my work.”
The actor went on to reveal that he’d been receiving messages “no person should have to read” and claimed that some fans have been dragging his family members into their shady remarks.
“Absolute lies, hatred, disgusting commentary about my appearance, character, how I am as a parent and every other inhumane thing you can imagine,” he continued.
“Talking about how I was a heroine baby and how I grew up and dragging my dear mother into it also. Knocking on my granny’s door. Sitting outside my baby boy’s house intimidating them. That’s crossing a line.”
Towards the end of the statement, Keoghan focused on his two-year-old son Brando, whom he shares with ex-girlfriend Alyson Sandro.
“Each and every day I work harder to push myself on every level to be the healthiest and strongest person for that boy,” he wrote.
“I want to provide opportunities for him to learn, fail and grow. I want him to be able to look up to his daddy, to have full trust in me and know I will have his back no matter what.
“I need you to remember he has to read ALL of this about his father when he is older.”
So far, Keoghan’s statement has received a mixed bag of reactions, with some folks showing him support and others clowning him for “fumbling” the singer.
Although Keoghan issued a lengthy couple of words regarding fans’ online behaviour, he hasn’t addressed the rumoured split or the cheating rumours.
Carpenter herself has yet to address the whole hullabaloo herself. However, Miss Girl seems super busy as Netflix recently dropped her Christmas special, A Nonsense Christmas With Sabrina Carpenter, which features a bunch of superstars including Chappell Roan, Cara Delevigne and Quinta Bunson.
Honestly, I think we’ll have to wait for the next album for all the tea.
