Australian Test cricket captain Pat Cummins and his wife Becky have announced the arrival of their second child, a little baby girl.
Cummins remained in Australia while the Test side plays overseas in Sri Lanka to be present for the birth and to recover from injury.
‘She’s here. Our beautiful baby girl, Edi. Words can’t describe how overjoyed & full of love we feel right now,’ Becky posted to Instagram.
The happy couple also shared an image enjoying a walk along the beach in Sydney with their new bundle of joy. They were enjoying time together with Cummins’ sister Kara and her children.
Friends, family and Australian cricket fans were quick to offer their congratulations.
‘Congratulations Captain on one more achievement,’ one posted.
‘Congratulations!!!! We have been holding our breath waiting for the news! What a beautiful girl. Can’t wait to meet her,’ posted another.

‘Oh my goodness!!! She’s prefect. Congratulations,’ added another.
It comes after the Cummins family announced news of their first pregnancy with son Albie on Instagram in 2021.
The Cummins’ new bundle of joy is part of a growing trend in the Australian team with Travis Head and Mitch Marsh also skipping the recent series against Pakistan to welcome their respective children.
Cummins has previously said he wants to foster an environment in the Australian team where players can prioritise family as well.
‘I missed a big chunk [of son Albie’s early days] last time and I want to work out how we can spend a bit more time at home for that initial period this time around,’ he said in October.
‘Within reason, no one is ever going to bat an eyelid if someone needs to put their family first,’ he said.
‘We’re playing cricket, it’s not the end of the world, so we want people to have long, successful careers for Australia, and you can’t just ask them to put their life on hold to go tour the world and forget about everything else. We’re pretty open when it comes to family.’
Cummins and Becky first revealed they were expecting their second child back in August, delivering the news on Instagram by writing: ‘Incredibly happy to finally share our [baby emoji] news!
‘We are so exited to meet you, baby, and to add a little more craziness to our lives.’
The post was accompanied by photos of Becky showing off her baby bump with Albie, who she is seen cradling while he places a hand on her belly in one image.
Cummins’ teammate Mitch Marsh was one of the first to congratulate the couple on the heartwarming announcement, as were cricket star Travis Head’s wife Jessica, Aaron Finch’s wife Amy, Usman Khawaja’s wife Rachel and Becky’s sister Kara.
Cummins will have plenty of time to spend with the new arrival to the family after being ruled out of Australia’s Champions Trophy campaign with an ankle injury.
‘While (the injury situation is) disappointing, it does present a great opportunity for other players to perform for Australia in a world event,’ said chief selector George Bailey.
He is expected to be fit for the World Test Championship final against South Africa in June.
