In news that fills me with national pride, Former Australian Survivor winner David Genat has walked away with the biggest cash prize in reality TV history after winning the US series, Deal or No Deal Island.
The impressive feat went down on Wednesday on the latest episode of the competition show, which is a spinoff combining elements of both Deal or No Deal and Survivor.
The closing moments of the finale episode saw the Golden God — who previously competed on Australian Survivor: Champions v Contenders in 2019 before winning Survivor: All Stars the following year — deliberate between his final two cases alongside host Joe Manganiello.
Cushioning the multi-million-dollar deal was Chrissy Teigen, who appeared as the mystery banker some two decades after she made history as the first female banker on the OG Deal or No Deal in the US.
When it came down to it, Genat avoided walking away with a case containing just $118 and instead scored an eye-watering $9.1 million.
Yay, he can now finally afford a trip to Woolworths!
That’s on top of the $500,000 Genat won when he was crowned Australia’s Sole Survivor back in 2020, and his pockets are now deep enough to invest in some boujee rewards.
“I’m going to definitely buy a new motorcycle, a new Harley,” Genat said on the Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie radio show this morning.
“All my kids are about to start driving, so I’ve probably got to buy a fleet of vehicles for them,” he added.

He also claimed Tiegan was “flirting with me hard” (a reward worth far more than the cash prize) and warned her husband, John Legend, to “watch out”.
Genat came out on top over a host of fellow reality TV alums, like Big Brother US winner Will Kirby and US Survivor legend Parvati Shallow.
With all that dosh, you’d think Genat would now be content riding his new Harley off into the sunset, but he’s coming back for more.
The Survivor champion will compete for a third time on the show as part of the upcoming iteration, Australia V The World, which is set to air later this year.
Hey Dave, leave some cash for the rest of us!
