An Australian cruise ship passenger has drowned while swimming at an island in the Phillippines.
The 71-year-old died after disembarking the MS Noordam Cruise Ship near Boracay Island at 10.30am on Wednesday.
The man was pulled from the water unresponsive after calling for help as he struggled to stay afloat in the water.
Malay MPS Chief of operations Lieutenant Joerelyn Requintin said the man had been swimming with several people.
‘After disembarking from the cruise ship with other passengers, they swam near the Cagban Jetty Port, about 10 meters from the shore,’ he told Panay News.
Emergency services rushed the man to Ciriaco S. Tirol Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
