Aubrey Plaza has spoken out following the tragic death of her husband, Jeff Baena, on Sunday.
“This is an unimaginable tragedy,” a representative for Plaza said in a statement, per Us Weekly.
“We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time.”
Baena, 47, was found dead around 10:30am on January 3 (local time) at a home in Los Angeles. Reportedly, Baena died by suicide.
His brother, Brad Baena, has also spoken out following the tragedy by leaving a comment under a tribute Instagram post shared by Jeff Baena’s friend Adam Pally.
“I am broken,” Brad wrote.
Baena and Plaza had been together for 14 years. They got married on their 10th anniversary in 2020 at a private ceremony held at their home, which Plaza famously recounted on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2021.
“We got a little bored one night. We got married and I’ll tell you how: Onehourmarriage.com. That’s real, look it up,” she told host Ellen DeGeneres. The clip has since gone viral.
Plaza and Baena had been long-term collaborators on-screen too with the pair working on projects such as Cinema Toast (2021) and The Little Hours (2017) together.
