The Associated Press has officially apologised after its red carpet reporters pulled a major faux pas with RnB legend Babyface at the 2025 Grammy Awards – and the internet is NOT having it.
Picture this: Music legend Babyface is mid-interview when AP reporter Krysta Fauria suddenly starts shouting “Chappell!” to get nominee Chappell Roan’s attention.
The 65-year-old Grammy winner handled it like an absolute pro, telling the reporters, “Go do that,” and stepping aside with a smile. But the internet? They were ready to throw hands.
Khloé Kardashian didn’t hold back, blasting the moment on X: “It’s maddening to see a LEGEND not get the respect and attention they deserve. He is a pioneer and deserves so much better than this.”
Even music icon Dionne Warwick weighed in, posting the interview with a pointed: “13x Grammy Award-winning Kenneth ‘Babyface’ Edmonds? Am I seeing this correctly?”
“It doesn’t even matter that Babyface is a bonafide legend, you don’t treat someone like that PERIOD,” said an X user.
Cardi B also weighed in on the mishap calling it “lame ass”.
The Associated Press quickly owned up to their mistake, posting on X: “We are deeply sorry for cutting our interview with Babyface short on our YouTube livestream of the Grammys red carpet. We have apologised to him through his representative and to our viewers on the livestream.”
Fauria also apologised during AP’s red carpet livestream, explaining, “I’m really sorry about interrupting Babyface earlier. Chappell Roan had come up and there was a lot of commotion, as there is on these carpets.”
As for Babyface, he seems to be completely chill cool. Although he’s not publicly said anything substantive about the situation, when a Backgrid reporter asked him about it, Babyface said that “it’s okay”.
I aim to be this level of unbothered.
