Shoppers were horrified after seeing which American foods were available to purchase at an Aldi in the UK.
An Aldi customer known as Hannahsfamilylife on TikTok showed off multiple products available at the UK supermarket in a video.
The TikToker herself was skeptical about the items, which included a Philly Cheesesteak Style Wrap Kit and the Lettuce Topped Buffalo Style Burger.
Other foods the store was selling included cosmic brownies, Pop-Tarts, and Marshmallow Fluff.
‘I know there is so much more to American food than hot dogs and pop tarts – this is just how it’s always marketed over here,’ Hannahsfamilylife said.
Stunned US shoppers claimed Aldi was ‘gaslighting’ the TikToker and multiple commenters claimed they had never seen some of the products before.
‘American here: the Pop Tarts, Skippy and BBQ sauce are the only familiar things. nothing else there was American,’ an Aldi customer wrote.
Hannahsfamilylife also mentioned she was surprised hot dogs in a jar were ‘so controversial’ in the eyes of Americans.

Aldi is the UK’s fourth largest supermarket and has more than 1,000 stores in the country.
All of its UK locations have a ‘Taste of America’ section.
Some commentators suggested that the section was merely US-inspired rather than offering a true reflection of American foods.
‘Cosmic brownies and pop tarts are 100% American not sure if they are the exact same,’ a TikToker wrote.
‘I’ve never seen PBJ brownies. everything else is probably more inspired than actually ours.’
‘Yeah this is not… no lol. They took inspiration maybe but none of this but maybe a few things are actually American,’ a shopper responded.

Outside of the UK, Aldi operates more than 2,400 locations in the US and plans to open 800 additional stores by the end of 2028
Despite what appears to be a lackluster American food section in the UK, Aldi is thriving in the US.
The grocery store brand announced a $9 billion investment into a five-year national growth strategy.
Part of this strategy includes opening 800 US stores by the end of 2028, with nearly 330 of them being in Northeast and Midwest regions.
The grocery store chain confirmed that 225 of those locations would open this year.
‘Aldi continues to see more shoppers come through our doors as they experience our quicker, easier and more affordable shopping experience firsthand,’ said Aldi CEO Jason Hart.
‘With our expansion across the country, Aldi is earning the trust of more shoppers in more communities than ever before, bringing us closer to becoming America’s first stop for groceries.’
