Ambassador Salih Mutlu: A large Turkish delegation participates in the World Urban Forum "wuf 12" In Cairo

Türkiye participates with a large delegation in the World Urban Forum in its 12th session “WUF12” Which is hosted by Cairo from November 4 to 8, where the delegation includes the Deputy Minister of Environment and Urbanism of the Republic of Turkey, the Mayor of Istanbul Municipality, and the President of the Turkish Municipalities Union.

 

The Turkish Ambassador to Cairo, Salih Mutlu Shen, said – after his participation in the Cairo Sports Marathon organized by the Cairo Governorate today, Friday, in the presence of the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Dr. Ibrahim Saber, the Governor of Cairo, and the ambassadors of Kuwait, Indonesia, Malaysia, and a group of members of the diplomatic corps – " I gladly participated in this marathon, which was organized before the World Urban Forum in order to deliver the message of “More liveable, people-oriented cities for health and pedestrians.”

The Ambassador expressed his happiness at seeing the streets of historic Cairo. Saying: " Traffic in Cairo has improved and more space has been created for pedestrians and cyclists.  The Turkish ambassador explained that one of the goals of the New Administrative Capital project established by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in the context of Vision 2030 and the New Republic, is to reduce traffic and air pollution in the city by moving official government institutions from central Cairo, in addition to providing an environmentally friendly environment. Healthy, clean and viable areas.‏ The marathon began with the participation of more than 700 bicycles from youth centres, the Cairo Bike Project, and a number of governorate leaders from in front of the General Office of the Cairo Governorate, passing through the Khedivial Cairo area on the streets of Muhammad Farid, Talaat Harb, Nile Palace, and Tahrir Square, and ended in the Freedom Park at the Opera, where a group presented From the youth of the youth centers, a number of traditional artistic pieces.
