Today, Youmna Al-Bahar, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, opened the second session of the Sixth Heritage Artists Forum at the Museum of Islamic Art, which includes among its activities the opening of an art exhibition at the museum under the title “Women and War.”
The General Administration of Awareness organized The archaeologist in the antiquities preservation and registration sector at the Supreme Council of Antiquities organized this forum in cooperation with the Museum of Islamic Art, the Faculty of Art Education at Helwan University, and the (Drawing Egypt) initiative. This came in conjunction with the museum’s celebration of the 121st anniversary of its establishment, which falls on December 28 of each year.
In attendance were Dr. Rasha Kamal, Director General of the General Administration of Archaeological Awareness in the Antiquities Preservation and Registration Sector of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, and Dr. Ahmed Siam. Director of the Museum of Islamic Art, Dr. Mohamed Hamdy, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Art Education at Helwan University for Education and Student Affairs, and some of the college’s professors, young students, and visual artists participating in the forum.
It began. Yumna Al-Bahar delivered her speech during the opening by offering congratulations to the Museum of Islamic Art on the occasion of its celebration of the 121st anniversary of its establishment, wishing the museum and all its employees success.
The Deputy Minister praised this forum as one of the distinguished artistic events, and this session witnesses the opening of an exhibition. "Women and War" Which highlights, through wonderful artistic works, the heroism of Egyptian women in facing various challenges, whether social, psychological or cultural, in order to preserve their identity and rights.
She pointed out that the Sixth Heritage Forum is an important opportunity to open new horizons of thinking. And artistic expression, as it adds a new dimension to linking artistic heritage with contemporary reality, through stories of continuous struggle and patience, wishing all attendees to enjoy a rich and different artistic experience.
The Deputy Minister was keen to present Many thanks to all those organizing this exhibition, especially the professors and students of the Faculty of Art Education at Helwan University and the participants in the (Drawing Egypt) initiative for their distinguished artistic works that they present in the exhibition.
Al-Bahar expressed her happiness with the depth of thought and excellence that the participants reflect. The various young students participating through their works and artistic paintings, appreciating such important initiatives that work to exploit the energies of these young people in a positive way, in addition to contributing to efforts to raise awareness of Egyptian history and heritage, which is the file that the Ministry is responsible for. Permanence is of great importance.
For her part, Dr. Rasha Kamal, Director General of the General Administration of Archaeological Awareness in the Antiquities Preservation and Registration Sector at the Supreme Council of Antiquities, indicated that this forum is organized on an annual basis within the framework of various activities and events that are organized to raise tourism awareness. She explained that this session targets plastic artists, including professors and university students from the Faculty of Art Education at Helwan University, pointing out that this exhibition presents a unique artistic vision that sheds light on the roles and experiences of women. During periods of war and conflicts throughout the ages, the exhibition is an artistic window that showcases multiple dimensions of women through creative plastic works.
Dr. Ahmed Siam, Director of the Museum of Islamic Art, explained that the various artistic works in the exhibition were well received by the museum’s visitors, They expressed their admiration for the creative ability of the artists in translating sensitive and complex topics into pictures and wonderful works of art.
This exhibition presents a group of innovative artistic works that combine various textile arts, woodwork, Drawing, oil painting, photography, sculpture, and metalworking. The works were distinguished by dealing with various issues related to the experience of women in their societies during periods of war and conflict.
