After cutting short his visit to Azerbaijan, the Sheikh of Al-Azhar returns to the homeland to receive condolences for his sister
His Eminence the Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, arrived homeland, on a private plane, a short while ago, after cutting short his official visit to Azerbaijan, to receive condolences for his elder sister, Hajja Samiha Muhammad Ahmed Al-Tayeb, who passed away today, Wednesday. The funeral ceremony will be held this evening in the city of Qurna, Luxor Governorate.
His Eminence the Grand Imam had left last Monday for the Azerbaijani capital, Baku. To participate in the opening of the twenty-ninth session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change COP29, based on an official invitation extended to His Eminence Mr. President Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, during his meeting with His Eminence the Grand Imam of the Al-Azhar Sheikhdom in Cairo in June of the year During the past two days, His Eminence the Grand Imam held several meetings with a number of kings, heads of state, and religious and political leaders. To discuss ways to bring about world peace, and to mobilize international efforts to stop the aggression against Gaza and Lebanon, in addition to discussing enhancing the benefit of Al-Azhar’s advocacy and scientific expertise in these countries, and other related topics.
