Cairo: Hani Kamal El-Din
The Ministry of Information and Culture of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the country’s self-designation among the Taliban*) announced the creation of a new structure called the Directorate for the Preservation of Jihad Assets. This was reported today, November 25, by Ariana News. Acting Minister of Information and Culture Khairullah Khairkhwa explained that this directorate is tasked with “preserving the assets of jihad and its history.” Khairkhwa outlined three main functions of the directorate: producing audiovisual content, creating a “jihad museum,” and documenting historical events. He said the museum will collect and archive artifacts from Afghanistan’s conflicts with Britain, the Soviet Union, and the United States. According to him, jihad museums will also be built in Kabul and the provinces to collect and display works related to jihad.
