He established specialized colleges, most notably the College of Arabic Language, the oldest institution in the Islamic world that bears this name, and launched many diverse educational programs. Because Al-Azhar Al-Sharif is a global institution, and one of its first priorities is teaching the Arabic language to non-native speakers, it established a special center to develop the education of foreign students. He completed a number of linguistic programmes, projects and initiatives, the most prominent of which are: Al-Azhar International Program for Spreading the Arabic Language in All Countries of the World, and the Linguistic Coexistence Programme. With it, a new type of tourism emerged. It is linguistic tourism, as well as a program for developing language skills in the fields of linguistic correction, literary editing, literary and rhetorical analysis of texts and diction. It also launched the Al-Azhar International Arabic Language Index document, which aims to evaluate regional and international institutions for teaching and classifying the Arabic language. It implemented an international program to prepare teachers of non-Arabic speakers.
