Advisor to the Sheikh of Al-Azhar discusses strengthening scientific cooperation with Al-Amana University in Gambia
Dr. Nahla Al-Saidi, Advisor to the Sheikh of Al-Azhar for Expatriate Affairs and Head of the Center for the Development of Education for Expatriate and Foreign Students, visited Al-Amana University in The Gambia, where she met with the President of the University, Dr. Baker Getty, and a number of the university’s executive leaders, namely: Dr. Haj Sar, The Vice President and Deputy Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Dr. Abu Bakr Abbas, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, and Dr. Mahfouz Dabo, Dean of Studies. Supreme. The meeting came to discuss ways of academic and cultural cooperation between Al-Azhar and the University.
The two parties discussed the prospects for joint cooperation in the fields of scientific and cultural exchange between Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and Al-Amana University, with the aim of developing students’ skills and refining their abilities, And enhance their academic opportunities. The meeting also discussed the role of Al-Azhar in supporting Islamic education in West Africa, especially by providing distinguished academic programs and comprehensive educational services.
Dr. Nahla Al-Saidi provided a detailed explanation of the educational programs that It is managed by the Center for the Development of International Student Education, with a focus on teaching the Arabic language to non-native speakers, and the services that the center provides to support foreign students.
It also reviewed the role of the College of Islamic and Arabic Sciences in Preparing students and enabling them to disseminate religious and Sharia sciences using modern methods.
During the tour, the advisor to the Sheikh of Al-Azhar visited the new building of the Center for Teaching Arabic to Speakers of Other Languages in Gambia, where she discussed with the university president Supporting the center through cooperation with Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, whether by providing curricula or training teachers.
This visit comes within the framework of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif’s efforts to enhance its educational role in West Africa, where the Al-Azhar delegation previously opened an Arabic language teaching center in Gambia two years ago. The visit witnesses the graduation of the center’s first batch of students, which includes 68 male and female students, in addition to following up on the affairs of the new students, who number 400.
