Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, participated in the first working session of the Fourteenth Conference of Arab Ministers of Education, organized by the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in the State of Qatar and the Qatari National Committee for Education, Culture and Science. Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif reviewed the most important aspects of the reform in the pre-university education sector that he adopted. The Egyptian state, with a focus on comprehensive education and empowering teachers, noting that the Egyptian Ministry of Education and Technical Education seeks, through its strategic plan (2024 – 2029), to promote equality and inclusion, develop governance and management, and improve the quality of teaching and learning, and that plan also includes A number of programs, projects, and activities that are based on a clear vision for reforming the pre-university education sector, based on three strategic axes, which are: (comprehensive and equitable access to education for all groups, Quality and excellence in education in accordance with global competitive standards, sustainability and lifelong learning).
The Minister also reviewed the first axis: Pointing out that it is closely related to the topic of this session, as it aims to make education available to all, and achieve justice in providing educational opportunities in remote and deprived areas, and for people with special needs, with the aim of strengthening policies and practices aimed at eliminating discrimination in education, and removing barriers that hinder the integration of all students.
The Minister talked about the most important efforts of the Egyptian state in the field of supporting and empowering teachers, stressing that teachers are the cornerstone, and the decisive and differentiating element within any educational system, so the Egyptian state places importance on teachers, Improving their professional, economic and social conditions is its top priority, as it has adopted a comprehensive vision to build an integrated educational system, made up of qualified teachers capable of creating generations. This vision is embodied in activating an accurate and transparent mechanism; To select the best talents to work in the education sector; Through rigorous tests that measure their competencies in various aspects.
The Minister pointed out the close and continuous cooperation of the Egyptian Ministry of Education and Technical Education with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the colleges of education and the relevant state institutions. With the aim of preparing a distinguished generation of teachers, capable of applying modern teaching methods effectively and competently, and improving the quality of teaching and learning processes, which is directly reflected in student learning outcomes; This represents the ultimate goal of any educational reform.
He explained that this comprehensive vision confirms the Egyptian state’s commitment to building a strong educational system, based on qualified teachers, and whose goal is to build a conscious, educated generation capable of contributing to building the future.
