Aaron Rodgers emerges as shock target for New York Giants after Matthew Stafford extends Rams deal

Matthew Stafford committing his future to the LA Rams has left the New York Giants weighing up a potential move for Aaron Rodgers, according to reports.

Adam Schefter revealed on Friday that Stafford has agreed a restructured deal with the Rams, coming as a blow to the Giants amid their search for a new quarterback.

And in light of that setback, Schefter now claims New York officials are looking at ‘all veteran quarterback options’ – including Rodgers.

The 41-year-old spent the last two seasons in New York with rival franchise the Jets, who recently announced they are set to release him on the back of a miserable year.

Earlier this week reports emerged suggesting Rodgers, who went 5-12 while failing to reach the postseason with the Jets in 2024, had offered his services to his now ex-team’s city foes amid his search for a landing spot.

Now he is being seriously considered by the Giants as they look to solve their crisis at quarterback, having cut ties with Daniel Jones back in November before alternating between backups Tommy DeVito and Drew Lock.

More to follow.
