Aaron Ramsey taunts Stoke fans after Cardiff win FA Cup clash on penalties – 15 years after former Arsenal star broke his leg at Bet365 Stadium

There is clearly no love lost between Aaron Ramsey and the Stoke City supporters and the former Arsenal man made sure to to give it to them after his Cardiff side won Saturday’s FA Cup fourth round clash.

Ramsey started what turned out to be a thrilling game with the two sides drawing 3-3 before the Welsh team won it 4-2 on penalties.

Ethan Horvath was the spot-kick hero as Cardiff banished the ghost of FA Cups past and reached the fifth round for the first time in 11 years.

Stoke’s Bet365 Stadium, formerly known as the Britannia, is a ground that is synonymous with Ramsey’s name.

The former Arsenal man’s career was put on hold for eight months after a reckless Ryan Shawcross broke his leg back in 2010.

Ramsey has always been booed on subsequent returns to the Potteries with chants such as ‘Aaron Ramsey, he walks with a limp’ ringing around the ground.

And he may have had the last laugh as he was seen laughing, waving and pumping his fist in the direction of the home fans after Saturday’s victory.

The visitors were two goals to the good inside the first 20 minutes thanks to goals from Colwill and Salech.

But Lewis Koumas scored twice in four minutes, either side of the break, to level.

From two goals down, Stoke were on their way to a first win in 10 meetings with Cardiff, when Lewis Baker scored from the spot.

But Colwill’s second forced extra-time, and then penalties.

Ralls, Callum Chambers, Chris Willock and Colwill converted their penalties for the visitors, whilst Tezgel and Burger scored from 12 yards as Stokes went out.

Cardiff boss Omer Riza hailed his side’s character after their dramatic shootout victory.

‘We showed really good character and togetherness. It’s really important we show that going forward. I said to the boys that this can elevate us even more if we keep showing that character and togetherness.

‘I’m really happy to be in the fifth round. I’m really pleased with the boys.

‘We made hard work of it in the end. There was cramp and fatigue setting in among the players towards the end.

‘They showed great character to get back into the game after being 2-0 down to be fair to them.

‘We gave them a lifeline just before half-time to go in 2-1. The start to the second half wasn’t quite good enough and we were punished for it.

‘The boys showed great character from 3-2 down and win the game so that was satisfying.’
