A telephone call took place between Dr. Badr Abdel Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, and Mr. Abdullah Bouhabib, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly Republic of Lebanon, on Saturday, January 4, where the two ministers discussed the latest developments on the Lebanese arena in light of the imminent session of the Lebanese Parliament to elect a new president.
The two ministers discussed the issue of the presidential election in Lebanon, where Minister Abdel Ati stressed the importance of making unremitting efforts with all active national parties to reach a national consensus with exclusive Lebanese ownership to end the vacancy. The two ministers also exchanged views on the political and security developments in Syria, where the importance of supporting the will of the brotherly Syrian people and preserving the capabilities of the Syrian state was stressed.
