Makeup artistry fans will be pleased to hear that ISAMAYA, the eponymous beauty brand from makeup artist and industry legend Isamaya Ffrench, is launching into Mecca from April 15.
Ffrench’s brand is a tangible extension of her incredible career as a leading creative within fashion’s inner sanctum. Born in the UK, Ffrench moved to London as a teenager to study at Central Saint Martins (other alumni include Alexander McQueen, Pheobe Philo, John Galliano and Stella McCartney). She specialised in product and design, but a weekend gig as a children’s face painter paved the way for makeup. Now, she’s known as a creative visionary, and her distinctive freaky but always cool beauty aesthetic — a scroll through her Instagram will prove her unbelievable skillset as an SFX artist as well. Before launching her own brand, she also worked as a creative lead at Burberry Beauty and most notably, Byredo.
Outside her work with brands, Ffrench still works as a celebrity artist, painting the faces of icons like Charli XCX, Lily Rose-Depp and Iris Law.
ISAMAYA as a brand does things differently in that it launches collections, not dissimilar to the fashion calendar. We’ve seen Industrial and cowboy-inspired Wild Star, but more recently a core collection of staples like primer, skin tints, lip liners, metallic lipsticks, glaze gel and mascara. Mecca will carry almost the entire core collection, both in store and online.
RUSSH is currently wish-listing ahead of the mid-month launch, so please enjoy the below list of what we plan to add to cart.
Metal Lip Balm
This lip formula has a foil finish for reflective shine that’s still surprisingly comfortable to wear. Use it alone or on top of a rich lip colour.
Colour Correcting Serum
Ffrench is an artist, and understand great skin comes with great prep. This lavender serum works to neutralise redness for an even-toned complexion.
Face Glaze
If you want dewy, reflective skin, this is the one to add to cart. It’s a totally transparent gel-balm that gives a glassy sheen.
Microbial Gel Primer
Ffrench apparently created this formula as a way to soothe model skin during fashion weeks. It’s packed with calming botanicals and prebiotics to protect your skin under makeup.
