A new educational course for construction and wood workers

The General Union of Construction and Wood Workers, headed by Abdel Moneim El Gamal, President of the General Federation of Egyptian Trade Unions, held an educational course on union work skills for a number of union committees in Alexandria Governorate.

The educational course continued for two days at the headquarters The Professional Trade Union Committee in Alexandria Governorate, in the presence of Mohamed Hassan, Vice President of the General Union, and Fathi Abdel Latif, former President of the Alexandria Workers Union.

Presented The educational course was held by Mohamed Al-Sayed, former Undersecretary of the Ministry of Manpower in Alexandria, and Dr. Ahmed Abdel Qader, former Undersecretary of the Ministry of Insurance, with the participation of representatives of union committees for workers in the construction and contracting sectors.

The educational course came, in light of the union’s interest. The General Assembly for Construction and Wood Workers, by raising union awareness among workers’ representatives in the various regulatory committees in the construction and wood sectors, as well as the contracting sector.

The course witnessed Educational session, discussing ways to enhance the capabilities of employee representatives, and the importance of their knowledge of the laws and regulations regulating labor relations, for the benefit of all employees.

During the educational session, the importance of continuing seminars and courses aimed at building a generation of trade unionists who have Tools that enable them to preserve workers’ rights, in a way that contributes to the rotation of the wheel of production for the benefit of the national economy. 

The symposium also witnessed discussion on the draft labor law, which is being discussed by the Manpower Committee of the House of Representatives, Which aims to achieve a balance between the parties to the production process. 

It was emphasized that the new legislation should come out in a way that achieves the hopes and aspirations of workers in the private sector, and in a way that enhances job security, as well as avoiding some of the observations of the current law.

The lecturers stressed the importance of raising workers’ awareness of occupational safety and health standards and securing the work environment, because of their impact on preserving workers on the one hand, and on continuing work and production that supports the economy on the other hand.
