The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives has undoubtedly changed brain chemistries across the world (not to be dramatic). However, it seems like MomTok is in for another shakeup. An OG member of the group has decided to spill the tea on the infamous Mormon swinging scandal that started us on this bonkers journey and Taylor Frankie Paul is not having a bar of it.
The Mormon swinging scandal origin story
In 2022, the Mormon MomTok community was turned upside down when Taylor Frankie Paul dropped a major bombshell about her community. What seemed like innocent friend group dynamic quickly unravelled into a complex web of partner swapping, broken boundaries, and relationship implosions. Soft swinging — a practice where couples would swap partners with strict rules — became the epicentre of a scandal that would tear apart multiple marriages.
Taylor herself admitted to breaking the group’s cardinal rule by “catching feelings” and going “all the way” with someone outside the agreed arrangement. The revelation was so explosive that it eventually became the catalyst of the hit show we all either love or love to hate — The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives.
Now, Kenna Gibbons, one of the OG MomTok crew who didn’t grace our screens in the show’s first season, has come out swinging (pun absolutely intended) with her side of the story in a five-part TikTok series.
She confirmed the swinging sitch and said, “We did switch partners and had soft swinging happen.” Apparently, it all started at a cabin trip that sounds about as wholesome as a Euphoria high school party. Kenna claims she called it quits after round two of the swinging seshes telling her hubby, “If this is what you want, we can divorce now, because I won’t participate any longer.”
Kenna alleges that despite her tapping out, her ex and Taylor kept the party going. “A physical affair, I had worked through. That sounds wild but it’s easier to work through than the emotional … to want to leave and disrupt your son’s life like that, I’m done,” she spilled.
Taylor Frankie Paul claps back HARD
Taylor wasn’t about to let these allegations slide and fired back on TikTok claiming Gibbons was actually “one of the instigators” of the whole swinging situation. Taylor dropped footage of her and Kenna kissing, with the caption, “The amount of times SHE wanted to play.” Taylor also shared a screenshot of a spicy text supposedly from Kenna that read, “I’m drunk and I wish I was kissing you.” When I tell you my jaw literally dropped when I saw this video:
Throughout this exchange Taylor has also been dealing with beef between her Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives cast mates over a lack of social media love. Some cast members have posted videos about MomTok being in chaos, but we can’t be sure which drama they’re referring to.
Taylor’s partner and baby daddy, Dakota Mortensen also decided to have an input. He posted a TikTok that said, “Maybe I should start telling my truth and showing my receipts. I been too quite sic.” I get that the man loves to get involved in the drama, but the least he can do is spell right.
Fans also noticed that Taylor and Dakota have unfollowed each other on Instagram, so it’s possible that the resurgence of the swinging scandal has rocked their relationship as well.
The receipts war continues
Kenna, not one to back down, came through with her own receipts to help her case. She addressed the infamous “kissing” text, claiming it was actually sent by her ex from her phone.
“This was sent on my iPhone from my ex, and he deleted the text message that he had sent to her so I could not see that message,” Kenna explained.
Kenna added that she has also been asked to join The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives multiple times, but has turned down each offer.
Taylor’s final word (for now)
Clearly over the drama, Taylor made what she said would be her final statement on the matter. “She never asked to stop; she was one of the instigators.” Taylor said in a TikTok.
“The amount of times SHE wanted to play.
“My story has been consistent for two years. I’ve already admitted and apologised for my part. [I] knew I was a villain in that story as well, and I’ve held a lot of guilt for that.”
Will we ever know the full truth? Probably not. But one thing’s for sure – I will be sat for the next season of The Secret lives Of Mormon Wives to see if MomTok can survive this!
