The Ryanair company, which is very established in small airports, is threatening to fold up. It could stop half of its activity in France. Nîmes airport (Gard) is very dependent on the company and could be affected. Those accustomed to affordable flights fear they will no longer be able to travel. But why does the Irish low-cost airline pose such a threat?
France wants to increase taxes in 2025: Ryanair suspends operations at 10 French regional airports if government triples passenger taxeswarned the company in a press release. For a trip to Europe, the tax would increase from 2.63 euros per ticket to 9.50 euros. This is far too much for Ryanair, but some passengers say they are prepared to pay more. For its part, the government does not intend to give in to what it considers to be a “blackmail”.
