Urgent.. Water Resources: The new Delta station is the largest agricultural wastewater treatment facility in the world

The spokesman for the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, Engineer Mohamed Ghanem, confirmed that the new Delta station is the largest agricultural wastewater treatment plant in the world in terms of capacity and operational power, in the western Delta on the Dabaa Road, where existing agricultural wastewater is transported. In a number of drains in the western Delta to the station site to be processed through a 174 km long conveyor path extending from the west of the Delta to the station site.

 

Ghanem said, In an interview with “Sada El Balad” channel, Today, Sunday, “The Ministry of Irrigation is following up on the position of the path project conveying agricultural drainage water to the new Delta station, which was inaugurated by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi earlier,” noting that 73% of the path project conveying agricultural drainage water to the new Delta station has been completed.

 

He added that water resources in Egypt do not exceed 55.5 billion cubic meters annually, in addition to the presence of 1.3 Rainwater, and 2.3 deep groundwater, pointing out that the gap between resources and water needs will be bridged through the return and treatment of agricultural wastewater along the network of canals and drains in the delta, with a total of 21 billion cubic meters annually.

 

He explained that the water from the canals and drains network is re-consumed and treated in 4 stages, where agricultural drainage water is removed and mixed with canal water, pointing out that agricultural drainage water is like water. Canals, but after passing through agricultural land, their degree of salinity increases due to soil salts. Depending on the water of (7) agricultural drains in the western Delta, they are the drains (Idku – Tarq Barsiq – Abu Qir – Castle – Al-Amm – West Noubaria – El-Nasr El-Bahri), where water is delivered to the station through a path extending 174 kilometers (152 kilometers of open canals – 22 kilometers of pipes), and includes 12 lifting stations and 103 industrial works, including bridges and bridges.
