Eastern Freeway, CityLink, Punt Road traffic delays in Melbourne as climate change protesters block cars

A group of climate change protesters have caused traffic chaos for thousands of Melbourne commuters this morning after they blocked off a key road.
A group of around 30 protesters remain stationed on the CityLink overpass as they hold up flags and large banners.
The protesters, who appear mostly middle-aged, have blocked multiple lanes leading to significant traffic delays of at least 20 to 30 minutes for anyone travelling from the St Kilda area toward the Eastern Freeway.
Punt Road, one of the city’s main thoroughfares, is backed up with traffic preventing drivers getting to work, with a few furious commuters getting out of their cars to confront the protesters.
‘I understand the importance of the message, but there must be better ways to protest without angering people,’ one annoyed driver told 7News.
